Box office failures; Distributors demand red card for Vijay and Suriya
Tamil Nadu distributors association have come with strong allegations against star actors Vijay and Suriya. Box office failures of their recent releases have forced the distributors to come out with strong allegations against the actors and producers. They have demanded to issue a red card against the two actors.
The distributors who bought their last few releases film from producers at huge amounts are said to have faced massive losses. They have accused the producers who have presented hyped box office numbers to extensively publicise the movie.
Vijay’s Puli and Bhairavaa and Suriya’s 24 and Singam 3 have incurred massive losses for the distributors. They allege that the producer’s claim of these movies grossing 100 crores in record time as blatantly forged. Such wrong collection reports will only cause further losses for these distributors. They have asked the stars for minimum guarantee or else they will try to stall the release of the stars upcoming movies.
Vijay has had an inconsistent run in the box office. His last three releases were Puli, Theri and Bhairavaa. While Theri, a 100 crore grosser became the biggest ever blockbuster in his career, the other two ended as a massive disappointments.
Suriya is also going through a lean patch with only 24 doing good bussiness. Singam 3, released on February 9 has become an underwhelming affair at the box office in most centres. The movie has ended as a collosal failure in Kerala and the Telugu states.
