The character Durai Singam is a blessing in my career : Suriya

Suriya’s next movie Singam 3 is gearing up to grace the screens from December 23. S3 aka Singam 3 is the third installment in the popular Singam series.

Suriya played the title character Durai Singam in the first part released in 2010. His performance as the outspoken and fierce cop earned him great appreciation.

The movie became a huge success and inspired the makers for a second part which was released in 2013. The movie again was received by the masses eventhough it was critically panned.

Singam is a very popular series among the masses thanks to Suriya’s performance, Hari’s slick direction and typical mass entertainer formula that has been used.

Suriya in a recent interview said that “When I started acting in 1997 in Nerukku Ner, I never thought that I will be able to do a title character and a movie like Singam.

The character Durai Singam came a huge blessing in my career. That character popularised me among the masses as an actor.

It is not often that one gets to act with a director for the same character multiple times. Hari is one director who knows the pulse of the audience.

We have worked together for 5 movies. I believe in doing quality movies rather than doing more number of movies.”

Suriya has worked with Hari in other mass entertainers like Aaru and Vel. The actor is currently shooting for Vignesh Sivan’s Thaana Serntha Kootam.
