Confirmed: Anushka Shetty to star in Gautham Menon’s next

After over two years of low, ace filmmaker Gautham Menon is finally back in fold as his long delayed films are gearing up for release. To start with, the Dhanush starrer ‘Ennai Nokki Paayum Thotta’ will be hitting screens this Friday (November 29). Vels Film International is releasing the film.

Gautham Menon has signed a three-film deal with the production house. He is currently working on a spy-thriller film titled as ‘Joshua’. The film has ‘Puppy’ fame Varun in the lead. After finishing that, his next for Vels banner will have Anushka Shetty in the lead. Producer Ishari K Ganesh himself confirmed this in a recent event.

Buzz is that this female-centric will be an adaptation of noted writer and filmmaker Govind Nihalani’s script. Nihalani is a filmmaker, cinematographer, screenwriter and producer, known for his works in Bollywood. He is a recipient of six National Film Awards. Interestingly, Kamal Hassan’s classic hit ‘Kuruthippunal’ was adapted from one of his scripts. It even went on to become India’s official entry for the 68th Academy Awards Best Foreign Language Film category.

It remains to see how Gautham Menon adapts Nihalani’s script. This is probably the first time the director is making a feature film based on someone else’s script. Anushka, who has also been away from the limelight for the last few months, will be trying to make a strong comeback. She had previously worked with the director in ‘Yennai Arindhaal’ that had Ajith in the lead.
