Confirmed: Here’s the release date of Ajith’s Nerkonda Paarvai

As we already know, Ajith’s next release is ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’ directed by H Vinoth of ‘Theeran’ fame. The movie, which is the official remake of acclaimed Hindi film ‘Pink’, has Ajith reprising Amitabh Bachchan’s role from the original. Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor, husband of late actress Sridevi, is making his debut in Kollywood by producing this movie.

While there were talks about the makers planning for a May release, it has now been officially announced that the movie will be hitting screens worldwide on August 10, Saturday. Though a Saturday release might sound strange, trade analyst Ramesh Bala has tweeted that it is a good slot as the movie will get an extended weekend run due to the Bakrid and Independence day holidays in-between. His tweet reads,

Aug 12th Monday is Bakrid holiday..

Aug 15th Thursday is Independence day holiday..

So Aug 10th to Aug 18th is a good 9 day extended week of holiday period to release

‘Nerkonda Paarvai’ also stars Vidya Balan, Shraddha Srinath, Abhirami Venkatachalam, Andrea Tariang, Rangaraj Pandey, Arjun Chidambaram, Adhik Ravichandran, Aswin Rao and Sujith Shankar. Vidya Balan, who is making her debut in Tamil, plays the role of Ajith’s wife in the movie. Shraddha Srinath has been cast in the role played by Taapsee in ‘Pink’.
