Confirmed: It’s Petta vs Viswasam this Pongal!

As we had reported recently, Kollywood is set to witness a massive box office clash this coming Pongal. The face-off is between superstar Rajinikanth’s Petta and Ajith’s Viswasam. Traditionally, Tamil cinema industry has relied heavily on the Pongal season as the long holiday period ensures great business at the box office. The slot is normally reserved for big star films but on rare occasions, two biggies have clashed. Viswasam was announced as a Pongal release long back but Petta team announced their release only a couple of days back.

Although there were reports about ‘Viswasam’ pulling out of the race, the makers have now confirming that they are going ahead. They are confident that Ajith will be able to draw big crowd as always. Distributors have also expressed their their willingness to accommodate both the films. As per reports, ‘Petta’ will be hitting screens on January 10, while ‘Viswasam’ will be releasing on Jan 15.

‘Viswasam’ is a regular commercial entertainer directed by Siva. Ajith reportedly plays a dual role in the movie that has Nayanthara as the female lead. ‘Petta’ is a multi-starrer directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Apart from Rajinikanth, the movie boasts of a stellar star cast comprising of Vijay Sethupathi, Trisha, Simran, Sasikumar, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bobby Simha and Malavika Mohanan.
