Confirmed: Thanneer Mathan Dinangal set to be remade in Tamil

‘Thanneer Mathan Dinangal’ is easily one of the most profitable films made in Malayalam cinema in recent times. Made on a small scale with a bunch of youngsters in the cast and crew, the film went on to become a huge blockbuster. It is now set to be remade in Tamil language. Anaswara Rajan, who played the female lead in the original, will be reprising the same character in the Tamil version as well. Debutant Hemanth will be directing the film. Shoot was supposed to begin earlier this year but had to be postponed due to the lockdown. Other details are expected to be out soon.

‘Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal’ directed by debutant Girish AD is a teenage rom-com. Vineeth Sreenivasan and a bunch of teenagers played the lead roles in the film. It was a sensational success at the box office raking up close to Rs 50 crores. The key for the Tamil version’s success will depend on how well the script is adapted to suit the sensibilities of the native audience.
