Dhanush tries to gain a foothold in Mollywood!

Dhanush, apart from be a widely accepted actor has tried his hand at various other departments like playback singing, lyric writing, production, screenwriting and more recently he turned an independent director with Power Pandi. He owns the production house Wunderbar Films and the company has produced many acclaimed films like Visaranai, Kaaka Muttai and commercial blockbusters like Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, Ethir Neechal and Vellai Illa Pattadhari (VIP). He is also funding superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming movie with Kabali director Pa Ranjith.

Dhanush is now entering Mollywood by producing three films back to back. Among the three, two of them star Tovino Thomas in the lead- Tharangam and Maradona. Other one is Ladoo starring Shabareesh Varma, Balu Varghese and Vinay Forrt in major roles. Interestingly, all the three films are directed by newcomers.

Tovino starrer Tharangam will be the first to hit screens. It is a black comedy directed by Arun Dominic. Tovino is playing the role of Padmanabhan, a funny cop who is accompanied by Balu Varghese’s character Joy, both of whom are suspended from the police force. Neha Iyer and Santhy Balachandran are playing the female leads in this movie.

Ladoo is being directed by Arun George. Shabareesh Varma, Balu Varghese, Vinay Forrt and Saju Navodaya are the main actors in the film. Premam fame Rajesh Murugesan is composing the music and Gautham Sanker will crank the camera.

Wunderbar Films’ third venture Maradona was officially announced very recently in Ernakulam. Vishnu Narayanan, a former associate of Dileesh Pothan, Aashiq Abu and Sameer Thahir is directing this movie. Angamaly Diaries actors Kichu Tellus, Tito Wilson and Chemban Vinod are playing prominent roles in the movie. Newcomer Sharanya R Nair is playing the female lead. It is scripted by Krishnamoorthy, who has previously assisted directors Lijo Jose Pellissery and Dileesh Pothan.

That makes it quite an interesting line up of films for Wunderbar Films. Hopefully, with the release of these three films, they will establish themselves as one of the leading production houses in Mollywood.
