Empuraan Fever Grips Thrissur: 15,000 Tickets Sold Out at Revamped Ragam Theatre

With just days left for the grand release of “Empuraan” on March 27, the frenzy surrounding the Mohanlal-starrer has reached new heights, especially in Thrissur’s iconic Ragam Theatre. Opting for offline bookings, the theatre witnessed an overwhelming response, selling a staggering 15,000 tickets in a single day. Fans queued up as early as 5 AM to secure their seats, prompting the management to extend bookings from the initial five days to 14 days due to skyrocketing demand.

In preparation for the big release, Ragam Theatre has undergone a massive technological revamp. The cinema hall now boasts a Christie projector, an ultra-premium installation rarely seen in India, paired with a Hugo screen by Harkness for unparalleled visual quality. Alongside these upgrades, all seating has been replaced, and a state-of-the-art acoustic system has been installed to enhance the overall viewing experience. Sunil A K, the theatre’s owner, believes that Empuraan deserves nothing less than world-class facilities, ensuring an unforgettable experience for audiences.

The theatre’s advance booking trends suggest that Empuraan is already a blockbuster in the making. With fans preferring offline ticket purchases, Ragam has witnessed record-breaking sales, outperforming other theatres by nearly 50%. Many moviegoers, unable to secure tickets for their preferred shows, have opted for alternative time slots, leading to packed bookings for the next two weeks. Sunil notes that such an overwhelming response has not been seen in a long time, reinforcing Empuraan’s potential to set new benchmarks at the box office.

Beyond being a theatre owner, Sunil is also a film producer and distributor, having backed projects like Vijay Superum Pournamiyum and Oru Thekkan Thallu Case through Surya Movies. He strongly believes that Empuraan will surpass its predecessor Lucifer in scale and impact, giving a much-needed boost to the Malayalam film industry. With its release coinciding with the vacation season, the film is poised to break records, with ticket sales already signaling a historic box office run.
