Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala strictly opposes OTT release

The long standing debate of direct OTT release still continues in the Malayalam film industry. Initially, all the organizations including FEFKA where against OTT release but later they were convinced that small films could be given an exemption. However, the Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) are still firm on their stand.

In a statement released last day, they have clearly mentioned that they will not be co-operating with those who are opting for OTT platforms directly before theatrical release. The Anto Joseph production ‘Kilometers & Kilometers’ has however been given an exemption as they claim that the movie has been affected by piracy. The film starring Tovino Thomas will be out soon on Hostar + Disney and is also likely to have a television premiere in Asianet for Onam.

FEUOK’s statement has been criticized sarcastically by many from within the industry including Aashiq Abu, Vijay Babu and Ashiq Usman.
