The Great Father vs Puthan Panam for this Vishu

Malayali filmmakers pin high hopes on the Vishu season, which also coincides with the summer vacations. It is a favourite season for superstar releases as families visit theatres in large numbers during this season.

Some highly exciting movies are waiting to hit screens for this year’s Vishu also. Some highly awaited movies have met with lukewarm response from the audience paving way for a mouthwatering battle between two Mammootty starrers. The Great Father and Puthan Panam are the two movies pitted against each other for this Vishu.

The Great Father, arguably the megastar’s most hype movie was released on March 30. The movie opened to huge numbers in the box office shattering the record for the highest first day grosser in Kerala. This Haneef Adeni directorial is expected to do some great business in this holiday season.

Mammootty’s Puthan Panam is also slated to release for this Vishu season on March 12. The movie has good expectations among the audience as it marks the teaming up of Ranjith and Mammootty. The movie’s official trailer was released recently to excellent response from the viewers and that has further heightened the expectations.
