Hrithik Roshan in Kaththi Hindi remake

According to latest reports coming in from Kollywood media, Hrithik Roshan will be playing the lead in the remake of Tamil blockbuster movie Kaththi. Earlier, Akshay Kumar was said to play the lead but we now hear that the makers have approached Hrithik Roshan.

Kaththi starring Ilayathalapathy Vijay was directed by ace filmmaker AR Murugadoss. It was a socially relevant mas entertainer that discussed about the plight of farmers in Tamil Nadu. Vijay played a dual role in the movie. The movie was a massive success both critically and commercially. Vijay won a lot of appreciation for his performance in the movie. Kaththi is also one of the biggest ever blockbusters in his career.

AR Murugadoss was said to remake the movie in Hindi with Akshay Kumar, but the project could not take off. It is still not clear whether Murugadoss himself will be directing the movie in Hindi with Hrithik Roshan. The director is currently busy with his upcoming Telugu movie with Mahesh Babu. He has earlier remade movies like Ghajini with Aamir Khan and Vijay’s Thuppaki with Akshay Kumar as Holiday. His last Hindi release, Akira was also a remake of Tamil movie Mounaguru.

It will be exciting to watch Hrithik stepping in the shoes of Vijay. Kaththi was recently remade in Telugu as Khaidi No 150 with Chiranjeevi in the lead role. It was also a big commercial success.

Hrithik Roshan meanwhile is on a break for a fitness programme. His last release Kaabil, a revenge thriller was a commercially successful movie. Released alongside Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees, Kaabil enjoyed a fair run in the theatres.
