Jomonte Suvisheshangal and Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol to release this week; Expectations higher for Jomonte Suvisheshangal

The cinema strike called by the exhibitors federation destroyed what could have been an exciting Christmas season with some highly anticipated movies releasing back to back. Nevertheless, the movies will start hitting the screens from this week. Dulquer Salmaan’s Jomonte Suvisheshangal is the first to release on January 19 followed by Mohanlal’s Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol on the next day.

Among the two movies, expectations are higher for the Dulquer Salmaan starrer. The movie marks the first time union of Dulquer with veteran director Sathyan Anthikkad. Sources close to the movie inform that Dulquer has given his career best performance. The director also rated Dulquer’s performance very highly sharing some experiences during the shoot.

The movie is written by popular scriptwriter Dr Iqbal Kuttippuram whose last 3 movies-Diamond Necklace, Oru Indian Pranayakatha and Vikramadithyan all enjoying a theatrical run of over 100 days. Mukesh is also playing a very prominent character in this movie as Dulquer’s father.

On the other hand, Munthirivallikalal Thalirkkumbol is directed by one film old Jibu Jacob who has proved his mettle with his debut movie Vellimoonga. We can expect some fun moments between Mohanlal and Meena, who are playing a couple once again. If the trailer is any indication, then it is a family entertainer that deals with family values and relationships.

The movie is written by M Sindhuraj based on the short story Pranayopanishad. It is a story based on a middle aged couple, but we have seen a similar one recently in Anuraga Karikkin Vellam in the portions between Biju Menon and Asha Sarath. We believe that the movie has more to offer than the usual family drama scenes.

Let’s hope that both the movies can achieve box office success and officially kick-start a great year for Malayalam cinema.
