Jyothika donates Rs 25 lakhs and medical equipments to Thanjavur government hospital

Recently, Tamil actress Jyothika found herself in the eye of a storm after her comments on the poor maintenance of Thanjavur government hospital was misinterpreted by religious groups. At an awards ceremony, Jyothika had stated that she was spellbound on seeing how well the famous Brihadeeswara temple in Thanjavur was maintained. However, she also pointed out that, in the same district, a government hospital was poorly maintained. She opined that the hospital should also be taken care of and maintained in the same way as the temple. This speech created quite a controversy after many Hindu outfits came out severely against her and family.

Jyotika has now walked the talk by donating Rs 25 lakh to the Thanjavur government hospital. Apart from financial assistance, she has also contributed for medical equipment, beds and to the beautification of the pediatric block with colour painting and renovation of the children’s park. She transferred the amount through Tamil Nadu Health Minister Vijaya Bhaskar.
