Kaappaan Kerala distribution rights acquired by Mulakuppadam Films

The much-awaited KV Anand directorial ‘Kaappaan’ is getting ready for release in August. The movie which boasts of a stellar star cast lead by two of South cinema’s biggest stars – Mohanlal and Suriya, is unarguably one of the most anticipated Tamil films of the year. The two stars are coming together for the first time and naturally expectations are sky-high.

Going by the hype, it is said that the Kerala rights of ‘Kaappaan’ has been bagged by Tomichan Mulakuppadam for a huge price. He had earlier released some other Tamil biggies like ‘Vivegam’ and ‘2.0’. With the presence of Mohanlal and Suriya, ‘Kaappaan’ is certain to take a big opening in Kerala. A last minute change in the distribution rights is also on cards, as has the case been in several Tamil films of late.

‘Kaappaan’ is touted to be an action packed thriller. The movie has Mohanlal playing the Indian Prime Minister’s role while Suriya will be seen as a high-rank National Security Guard (NSG) officer. It also has Arya, Sayyeshaa, Boman Irani, Shamna Kasim and Samuthirakani in major roles. The movie was shot in several countries across the world. Lyca Productions is backing this big budget flick.
