Kabali got 223 crores even before its release !

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth starrer Kabali will grace the screens all over the world on this coming Friday, July 22. This Pa Ranjith directed movie is now the most anticipated movie in India and it is setting records at every step before its release. Kalaipuli S Thanu, the popular producer in Kollywood had bankrolled this gangster flick under the banner of V creations and reports says that this movie is made using a budget around 110 crore.

As per the latest reports, Kabali had already got rupees 223 crore from its distribution rights and other rights and it is a record in Indian Cinema that a movie had touched the magical 200 crore mark even before its release. The film will release around 60 countries all around the globe and will hit more than 5000 screens as well. From India alone it will get 4000 screens. The distribution rights of the film is sold for huge prices and that is how it minted rupees 223 crores even before the release.

Jazz Cinemas had bought the Tamil Nadu distribution rights of the movie for a whopping 68 crores. Shanmugha Films bought the Andhra rights for 32 crores and from these two states itself Kabali had got 100 crores as distribution rights. Kerala (7.5- Mohanlal’s Aashirvad Cinemas-Maxlab), North India (15.5- Fox Star India), Malaysia (10- Malik Stream corporation), USA-Canada (8.5- cine Galaxy) etc are the main distribution areas and rights.

Other overseas markets had contributed rupees 16.5 crore rupees and the Satellite and music rights fetched rupees 40 crore for the flick. Jaya TV and Think Music grabbed the Satellite and music rights respectively. The flick got around 10-15 crore by selling some other rights as well. Thus it had already crossed the 200 crore mark and that is why Rajinikanth is been called the real Super Star in Indian Cinema.
