Kalyani Priyadarshan to play Pranav Mohanlal’s pair in Marakkar – Arabikadalinte Simham

Priyadarshan’s magnum opus Marakkar – Arabikadalinte Simham is a hugely hyped movie. This epic film is planned to be made on a budget of Rs 100 crores. Since the budget involved is huge, the makers are planning it as a multi-lingual with actors from all major Indian film industries. Mohanlal is playing the lead role while other stars like Pranav Mohanlal, Prabhu, Arjun and Suneil Shetty are also confirmed in the cast.

Marakkar.. is based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV. Kunjali Marakkar was the title given to the naval chief in the 16th century, whose duty was to protect the coast against the invading Portuguese army. There were four key Kunjali Marakkars during that era. This upcoming movie’s story is reportedly based on the fourth Marakkar. His life apparently had the most interesting elements.

While Mohanlal plays the fourth Marakkar, his son Pranav will be playing the younger part of his character. It is a cameo role but comes at a very crucial juncture in the storyline. Latest buzz is that Priyadarshan’s daughter Kalyani will be playing Pranav’s pair in the movie. Kalyani and Pranav have been close friends for years and the former has even expressed her wish to act together. It will be interesting to see how the two friends perform on-screen.

After starting her career in cinema as an assistant art director in Irumugan, Kalyani moved to acting. She made her debut with the Telugu movie Hello, which emerged as a big hit. Markkar.. will be her debut outing in Malayalam. The movie reportedly has four heroines and the makers are also in talks with Manju Warrier and Keerthy Suresh, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Details about the entire cast is expected to be officially announced shortly.
