Kamal Haasan Joins Karthi’s Kaithi 2; Lokesh Kanagaraj Expands His Cinematic Universe

The Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) is set to get bigger and more exciting as Kamal Haasan has been confirmed to play a key role in Kaithi 2. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Kaithi is set to go on floors by the end of this year. Adding to the excitement, Suriya is also set to play a major role in the film, making this one of the most star-studded LCU projects yet.

Kaithi, starring Karthi in the lead role as Dilli, was a high-octane action thriller that won widespread acclaim for its gripping narrative, intense action sequences, and unique storytelling. The film, which was entirely set over one night, became a cult hit and laid the foundation for the LCU.

The LCU gained massive popularity with Vikram (2022), which saw Kamal Haasan’s return as Agent Vikram, connecting the dots with Kaithi. The universe further expanded with Leo (2023), starring Vijay, which had hidden connections to Kaithi.

Currently, Lokesh Kanagaraj is working on Coolie, starring Rajinikanth, which is set for release in August 2025. With Kaithi 2 set to begin filming by the end of the year, fans are in for another thrilling LCU spectacle!
