Kamal Haasan’s Indian 3 Set for Direct OTT Release: Reports

Following the underwhelming box office performance of Indian 2, reports suggest that Kamal Haasan’s Indian 3 might skip theatrical release and go directly to OTT. The much-anticipated third installment in the vigilante franchise, directed by Shankar, has been a topic of speculation due to the lukewarm response to Indian 2, which was released in July 2024. Despite Kamal Haasan’s star power, the film failed to meet expectations, leading to significant financial losses for Lyca Productions.

According to reports, Indian 3 could debut on Netflix, a strategic move to recover from the losses incurred. Although no official announcement has been made by the film’s team, the buzz suggests that this direct OTT release is being considered as the franchise struggles to regain its footing. Shot concurrently with Indian 2, the third film faced multiple production delays, including an on-set accident and rumors of creative differences.

Kamal Haasan, despite the setbacks with Indian 2, continues to work on other projects, including Thug Life with Mani Ratnam and KH 237, directed by action choreographers Anbariv.
