Kammatipaadam writer P Balachandran speaks about Dulquer

Kammatipaadam, the Rajeev Ravi directorial film starred by Dulquer Salmaan is all set to hit the screens on May 20. The screenplay of this action film is written by popular actor/director P Balachandran. His previous screenplay was for Ivan Megharoopan which was directed by Balachandran himself. He had written some classic films in Malayalam such as Pavithram directed by TK Rajeev Kumar and Ulladakkam directed by Kamal. In those films superstar Mohanlal played the lead role and now Young superstar Dulquer Salmaan is played the lead in his screenplay and he speaks about the experience with Dulquer.

Balachandran said that when he was writing Pavithram and Ulladakkam, Mohanlal was in his mind to play the male lead of the film. But when it comes to Kammatipadam, there was no one in his mind while he was writing the screenplay. The lead character did not even had a proper name. Then came some names such as Krishnan, Raman etc and only after that Dulquer Salmaan is selected to play the character.

He said that it was indeed a challenging character for an actor like Dulquer. The film has more reaction and counter action than pure action. Giving reaction is the most challenging aspect of acting. According to him, Dulquer Salmaan is a hardworking and disciplined actor. He is ready to learn from mistakes and tried hard to correct it.

Balachandran believes that Dulquar had done justice to the character named Krishnan in this movie. Actors like Vinayakan, Vinay Fort, Shine Tom Chacko etc also playing important roles in it and P Balachandran himself playing a character in this movie written by him.
