Katrina Kaif to star in PT Usha biopic?

Biopics on famous sports personalities are nothing new in Bollywood. Recently, there is a buzz about Katrina Kaif starring in the biopic of athlete PT Usha. Ad filmmaker Revathy S Varmha, who has directed a few films in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, will be helming the biopic. Though Priyanka Chopra was the original choice two years back, it didn’t materialize due to some unknown reasons.

PT Usha is regarded as one of the queen of Indian track and field. A winner of the prestigious Padma Shri and Arjuna Awards, Usha has represented India in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. At the final, she came fourth, at 55.42 seconds, falling behind the eventual bronze medalist by 1/100th of a second. Usha has won a total of 101 international medals. She is currently employed as an officer in the Southern Railways and also coaches young athletes at her training academy in Kerala.

It will be interesting to see how Katrina Kaif plays PT Usha’s part. Reports suggest that director Revathy had recently met Katrina and narrated the script. The movie is being planned to be made in English, Hindi, Chinese and Russian besides other Indian languages. An official confirmation is still awaited.
