Kerala State Film Awards 2017: Malayalam cine fraternity congratulate the winners!

Kerala State Film Awards for the year 2017 was announced today morning. Minister for cultural affairs, AK Balan made the announcement in a press meet held in the state capital, Thiruvananthapuram. Veteran actor Indrans and Parvathy bagged the top honours for their performances in Aalorukkam and Take Off respectively. Ottamuri Velicham directed by Rahul Nair was chosen as the best film while Lijo Jose Pellissery won the best director award for his movie Ee Maa Yau.

Unlike previous years, industry insiders as well as the common audience are generally happy with the awards this year. The jury headed by director TV Chandran have honoured the deserving from both mainstream and art house movies. As many as 110 movies were nominated this year in various categories. The jury members were divided into two groups and 55 movies were watched and judged by each group

Young stars like Dulquer Salmaan, Tovino Thomas, Nivin Pauly, Sunny Wayne and many others have posted notes on their respective social media pages congratulating the award winners.

Best Actor Male – Indrans (Aalorukkam)

Best Scriptwriter – Sajeev Pazhoor (Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum)

Best Story – MA Nishad (Kinar)

Best Script (Adaptation) – S Hareesh, Sanju Surendran (Aeden)

Best Second Actor Male – Alencier Ley Lopez (Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum)

Best Second Actor Female – Pauly Valsan (Ee Maa Yau, Ottamuri Velicham)

Best Cinematographer – Manesh Madhavan (Aeden)

Best Editor – Appu Bhattadhiri (Ottamuri Velicham, Veeram)

Best Child Artists – Nakshathra (Rakshadhikari Baiju), Master Abhinand (Swanam)

Best Children’s Film- Swanam

Best Debut Director – Mahesh Narayanan (Take Off)

Popular Movie – Rakshadhikari Baiju

Best Music Director – AK Arjunan (Bhayanakam)

Best Art Director – Santhosh Raman (Take Off)

Best Background Score – Gopi Sunder (Take Off)

Best Lyricist – Prabha Varma (Oolathil Melathal, Clint)

Best Playback Singer Male – Shahabaz Aman (Mizhyil Ninnum, Mayaanadhi)

Best Playback Singer Female – Sithara Krishnakumar (Vimaanam)

Best Sound Sync – Smijith Kumar PB (Rakshadhikari Baiju)
