Kerala State Film Awards 2018; Jayasurya, Soubin and Nimisha bag top honours

When compared to the past few years, 2018 was a comparatively damp year for Malayalam film industry. Despite that, we were lucky enough to witness a handful of brilliant movies and some top performances. Kerala State Awards is considered prestigious for honouring the deserving from the industry. State awards for the year 2018 has been announced today by the Minister for cultural affairs, AK Balan in a press meet held in state capital, Thiruvananthapuram. Here’s the complete list of winners:

Best Film – Kanthan- The Lover of Colour

Best Second Film – Sunday

Best Director – Shyamaprasad (Sunday)

Best Actor Male – Soubin Shahir (Sudani From Nigeria), Jayasurya (Njan Marykutty, Captain)

Best Actor Female – Nimisha (Oru Kuprasidha Payyan, Chola)

Best Story – Joy Mathew (Uncle)

Best Screenplay – Zakariya and Muhsin Parari (Sudani From Nigeria)

Best Character Actor, Male – Joju George (Joseph)

Best Character Actor, Female – Savitri Sreedharan and Sarasa Balussery (Sudani From Nigeria)

Best Cinematographer – KU Mohnanan (Carbon)

Best Editor – Aravind Manmadhan (Sunday)

Best Debut Director – Zakariya (Sudani From Nigeria)

Best Popular Film – Sudani From Nigeria

Best Music Director – Vishal Bharadwaj (Carbon)

Best Art Director – Vinesh Banglan (Kammarasambhavam)

Best Background Score – Bijibal (Aami)

Best Lyricist – BK Harinarayanan (Theevandi, Joseph)

Best Playback Singer Male – Vijay Yesudas (Poomuthole, Joseph)

Best Playback Singer Female – Shreya Ghoshal (Neermathalam, Aami)

Best Child Actor, Male – Master Mithun
