Kottayam Qurbana: Nayanthara to play the lead in Unni R’s next!

‘Lady superstar’ Nayanthara is as busy as ever with a handful of projects in multiple languages. As per latest reports, the pretty actress has committed for a new project in Malayalam. She has been signed to play the lead in a female-oriented movie titled ‘Kottayam Qurbana’. Kerala State Award winner Unni R is scripting this movie which will be directed by debutant Mahesh Vettiyar.

Of late, Nayanthara has mostly taken up movies with strong female characters and Kottayam Qurbana also promises to be one. The plot set in Kottayam is centred around the lead character, played by Nayanthara. Along with her, a leading actor from Malayalam will also be there in a crucial role.

Director Mahesh Vettiyar has years of expected in the ad film and animation industry. He will be trying to make a mark with his first film itself. Unni R has proven his mettle as a writer with movies like 5 Sundarikal (segment Kullante Bharya), Munnariyippu and Charlie. For his upcoming movie with such a big star like Nayanthara, expectations will certainly be on the higher side.

Kottayam Qurbana will be produced under the banner of Full On Studios. Ace cinematographer Madhu Neelakantan will be cranking the camera and last year’s State award winner Appu Bhattathiri will be editing the movie. More details regarding the supporting cast and when the movie goes on floors have not yet been announced.

Nayanthara is currently busy shooting for the magnum opus Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy in which she is sharing screen space with superstars like Chiranjeevi and Amitabh Bachchan. After that she is expected to join the sets of Dhyan Sreenivasan’s directorial debut Love Action Drama, in which she will be acting alongside Nivin Pauly for the first time. Kolaiyuthir Kaalam, Imaikkaa Nodigal and Kolamaavu Kokila are her upcoming movies in Tamil.
