Liberty Basheer to produce Mammootty’s upcoming big budget movie!

Megastar Mammootty has a busy couple of years ahead of him with a around six projects in the pipeline. Among them, Mamankam and Kunjali Marakkar IV are period flicks that are being planned on a big scale. As per latest reports, Mammootty is all set to star in another such biggie.

The legendary trio of Mammootty, MT Vasudevan Nair and Hariharan are teaming up for Payyampalli Chandu, a character from the Northern ballads or Vadakkan pattukal of the Malabar region. Liberty Basheer is producing the movie under the banner of Liberty Productions.

Ever since the release of Baahubali, filmmakers across the country are behind epic-historic movies. But Malayalam cinema has a rich history in making such movies. The 1989 National award winning Mammootty starrer ‘Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha’ is easily the most popular Malayalam movie in that genre. The movie was scripted by MT Vasudevan Nair and directed by Hariharan. Exactly 20 years after that, the trio teamed up for another similar movie – ‘Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja’.

When the same combo come together once again fot Payyampalli Chandu, expectations will be huge among the audience. The movie involves high production values and a lot of research. So, the makers are planning to start the pre-production works this year itself. An official word about the commencement of shoot has not yet been given.
