Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Irumbu Kai Mayavi’: Is Aamir Khan Replacing Suriya?
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s long-discussed project Irumbu Kai Mayavi is back in the spotlight with fresh speculation. Originally rumored to feature Suriya in the lead, reports now suggest Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan might step into the role instead. While there has been no official confirmation, industry buzz indicates that Lokesh and Aamir are exploring the possibility of collaborating on this superhero venture.
Inspired by DC Comics’ The Steel Claw, Irumbu Kai Mayavi follows the story of a vigilante who loses his hand and gains superpowers through a metal claw. The protagonist uses his newfound abilities to investigate crimes and fight injustice, promising an action-packed narrative.
Suriya and Lokesh, both tied up with individual commitments, have not confirmed working together on the film. Suriya is focused on Retro, a romantic action film directed by Karthik Subbaraj, slated for release on May 1, 2025. Meanwhile, Lokesh is helming Coolie, starring Rajinikanth, where the superstar reportedly plays a character with negative shades.
If the collaboration with Aamir Khan materializes, it would mark the actor’s debut in Lokesh’s cinematic universe and his first superhero role, adding a unique dimension to Indian cinema’s growing superhero genre. Fans await further updates.
