multiplex strike in kochi
Malayalam movies including Baahubali withdrawn from multiplexes
Malayalam film producers and distributors have withdrawn all the Malayalam movies screening in multiplexes. The withdrawal comes on the back of the long existing issue over the profit shares.
The multiplexes have been demanding a hike in the theatre shares for sometime now. National multiplexes chains including PVR and Cinepolis have withdrawn all the existing films.
Existing movies like Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, The Great Father, Take Off and Ramante Edanthottam have all been withdrawn. Earlier, this week’s new releases like Tovino’s Godha, the multistarrer Achayans and Asif Ali’s Adventures Of Omanakuttan were not released in multiplexes.
The movies are not being screened in 12 screens in PVR Lulu Mall Kochi, Cinepolis Centre Square Mall, PVR Oberon Mall Kochi and Thrissur Shobha INOX.
This has come as a great setback to the new releases. The profit share issue between the producers, distributors and multiplexes is a long standing only. Only multiplexes give quality cine watching experience and the audience should not be deprived of that. Let’s hope they find an amicable solution soon.
