Malayankunju release date announced

Dismissing speculations about a direct OTT release, the makers of Fahadh Faasil’s new film ‘Malayankunju’ have announced the theatre release on July 22. It will be competing with ‘Mahaveeryar’ at the Kerala box office. The Nivin Pauly-Asif Ali starrer is set to hit screens one day earlier on July 21.

Fahadh’s last Malayalam film to be released in theatres was ‘Trance’ in February 20, 2020. His last few outings in Malayalam — ‘CU Soon’, ‘Joji’, ‘Malik’ and ‘Irul’ have all been OTT releases.

‘Malayankunju’ is directed by debutant Sajimon, who has assisted many senior filmmakers. Mahesh Narayanan, who had directed Fahadh in ‘Take Off’, ‘Malik’ and ‘CU Soon’, has scripted the film. He is also debuting as a cinematographer with this film.

‘Malayankunju’ is a landslide-based survival thriller in which Fahadh plays a grey-shaded role. Maestro AR Rahman is scoring music for the film. It is his third Malayalam film after ‘Yodha’, and the yet-to-be-released ‘Aadujeevitham’.
