Mamangam is basically an emotional thriller: M Padmakumar

‘Mamangam’, as per the makers, is a historic film with almost 80% of it being inspired from true events. The film is based on the religious festival, Mamangam, that took place every 12 years in a place called Thirunavaya, on the banks of Bharathapuzha, for over 280 years.
The film’s original director Sajeev Pillai penned the script after an extensive research of over 12 years. Shankar Ramakrishnan later adapted the screenplay.
Mammootty plays a chaaver in the film. Along with him, Unni Mukundan is also essaying a very important character named Chandroth Panicker. Kaniha, Anu Sithara, Prachi Tehlan, Tarun Arora, Suresh Krishna, Manikuttan, Abu Salim, Manikandan, Ineya, Siddique, Sudev Nair and Sudheer Sukumaran are also part of the cast.
‘Mamangam’ is currently in the final stages of post-production. The film is scheduled to hit screens on November 21. Apart from Malayalam, it is also releasing in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages as well.
