Mammootty as a politician in Madura Raja!

‘Madura Raja’ shoot has been silently progressing for the last few months. This highly anticipated film is a spin-off on Mammootty’s eponymous character from the blockbuster film, ‘Pokkiri Raja’. Mammootty is reprising his role of the Madurai-based don, who speaks broken English and comes across as a fun person unlike the usual rough and tough gangsters. A few leaked stills from the location indicate that Raja is also a politician this time. He represents a party named Tamil Makkal Katchi (TMK). It remains to be seen if the political angle is there just for the sake of a few laughs or if it has a very crucial part in the storyline.

‘Madura Raja’ marks the reunion of writer-director duo of Udhayakrishna and Vysakh after the blockbuster success of ‘Pulimurugan’. According to the director, the movie will be more racy and technically advanced than the first part. Touted to be an action-packed entertainer, the movie has its stunts choreographed by Peter Hein. The makers have planned for a VFX-heavy climax.

‘Madura Raja’ has a huge star cast with Anusree, Shamna Kasim, Anna Reshma and Mahima Nambiar as the female leads. Tamil actor Jai is also said to be playing a prominent role in the movie. The elaborate supporting cast comprises of Nedumudi Venu, RK Suresh, Vijayaraghavan, Salim Kumar, Aju Varghese, Dharmajan, Biku Kuttan, Siddique, MR Gopakumar, Kailas, Bala, Manikuttan, Noby and many others.

Nelson Ipe is producing the movie which is expected to hit screens in the second half of the year.
