Mammootty’s mega budget project Mamankam to commence in February!

Mammootty’s historical epic film Mamankam was announced on Diwali day to roaring reception from his fans. Said to be the biggest project in the megastar’s three decade long career, Mamankam is the maiden directorial venture of Sajeev Pillai. Venu Kunnampilly of Kavya Films is backing this mega budget project.

The makers have been involved in the pre-production works for a long time now and if reports are to be believed they are planning to go on floors by February next year. Reportedly, the movie will commence in Mangalore and will later move to the shores of Bharathapuzha.

Director Sajeev, a former associate of the legendary Adoor Gopalakrishnan, has done extensive research works for nearly 12 years to script this epic movie. It is based on Mamankam, the medieval fair, was celebrated every 12 years from 800 AD to 1755 AD.

Mamankam festival was held on the banks of Bharathapuzha in Tirunavaya and would attract brave warriors from across the country who would come together to showcase their skills at combat. Mammootty will be seen as a Chekavar in the movie.

Besides Mammootty, the movie will also have some other leading actors from industries across the country. Internationally renowned technicians will also be associated with the movie. An official announcement comprising of details regarding the cast and crew members will be made very soon.
