Manju Warrier’s role in Odiyan will be one of the most powerful woman characters in Malayalam cinema: Shrikumar Menon

The third schedule of Odiyan is all set to commence on the 5th of February. A young and vibrant Mohanlal will be joining the team along with Manju Warrier and Prakash Raj. The younger portions of these characters will be filmed during this schedule. Just like Mobnalal, Manju will also be sporting three different looks in the movie. This exciting bit of information was revealed by director VA Shrikumar Menon himself.

Apparently, Manju has a very significant role in the movie. Manju will seen sporting multiple looks – in her late 20s, mid 30s and in her 50s. It is a prominent character that comes throughout the film as Mohanlal’s and Prakash Raj’s roles are centred around her. It is a performance oriented role and the actress is thrilled about acting alongside two of Indian cinema’s finest actors.

Director Shrikumar Menon calls it as one of the most powerful female characters in Malayalam cinema. He also added that Manju has delivered a terrific performance while shooting for the movie’s first schedule. Post her comeback, Manju has often been typecast in single mother roles, but her character in Odiyan looks very promising. Let’s hope we get to see the fantastic Manju of ‘Kanmadam’ days.

Odiyan is a fantasy thriller with a mix of action, romance and magical realism. Scripted by National award winner Harikrishnan, Odiyan is primarily about Odividya, a kind of black magic and people who practice it are called odiyans. Mohanlal plays the role of Manikyan, who is said to be the last living odiyan in the world. The story is set in three different timelines and it follows Manikyan’s life from his childhood to his 60s.

Odiyan has a huge technical crew led by India’s leading stunt master Peter Hein. Pulimurugan’s cinematographer Shaji Kumar is wielding the camera and Sreekar Prasad is handling the edits. Around 70 days of shoot is left for the movie and is expected to hit screens for this year’s Onam. Odiyan is funded by Mohanlal’s own Aashirvad Cinemas.
