Mohanlal as Ithikara Pakki has a major role in Kayamkulam Kochunni

Nivin Pauly’s upcoming movie, Kayamkulam Kochunni is highly anticipated by the audience. Expectations for the movie escalated to a whole new level after it was announced that superstar Mohanlal is also part of the movie. Though certain reports suggested that it will be a cameo role, director Rosshan Andrewss has clarified that it is a very prominent role.

Scripted by Bobby-Sanjay, the movie is based on the famous highwayman Kayamkulam Kochunni, who was active in the 19th century in Travanore. While Nivin appears in the titular role, Mohanlal is playing the role of Ithikara Pakki in the movie. Pakki was the first legendary Robin Hood of Kerala and he and Kochunni were contemporaries.

Mohanlal recently underwent an amazing body transformation by shedding around 18 kilos. So, his trimmed physique will help perform the ‘kalaripayattu’ portions effortlessly. Director Rosshan Andrewss has informed that Mohanlal will be sporting an entirely new look in the movie.

Apparently, the character has immense scope for performance and the team is very much excited to have Mohanlal on board. He will part of the schedules in Mangalore, Goa and Sri Lanka. He is expected to join the sets by the end of this month or early February.

Kayamkulam Kochunni has Priya Anand playing the female lead. Sunny Wayne, Babu Antony and Kannada actress Priyanka Thimmesh are also part of the supporting cast. The technical crew includes some big names like Bollywood cinematographer Binod Pradhan, National award winning sound designer PM Satheesh and Firefly Creative Studio, who handled the VFX in films like Baahubali and Enthiran. Gopi Sunder is taking care of the music department. Gokulam Gopalan of Sri Gokulam Films is producing this big budget movie.
