Mohanlal joins Kerala government’s initiative to plan one crore saplings
At a time when the world is facing dire consequences of climate change and global warming, the Kerala government has launched an initiative to plant one crore saplings across the state.
Actor Mohanlal inaugurated the ambitious drive at St. Xavier’s College in Trivandrum by planting a sapling. The actor shared a photo in his official Facebook page and along with that he wrote,
“Happy to be a part of Kerala government’s initiative to plant one crore saplings across Kerala.
It’s high time we pay attention to climate change and pollution.”
One crore trees will be planted across the state today as part of the World Environment Day celebrations. All government bodies, schools and voluntary associations are expected to take part in the drive.
Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has urged the people to support the initiative organized by the Forest, Environment and Agriculture departments. They have supplied saplings of about 100 varieties of fruit bearing and medicinal trees. The Haritha Kerala Mission aims to plant as many trees as possible to conserve environment and to make the state greener.
