Mohanlal praises Udhayinidhi Stalin’s Nimir!

Priyadarshan is remaking last year’s super hit Malayalam movie Maheshinte Prathikaram in Tamil. Udhayinidhi Stalin is playing the lead role in this movie titled as ‘Nimir’. Malayali actresses Namitha Pramod and Parvati Nair will be seen as the two female leads.

Recently, superstar Mohanlal had watched the movie in a special screening organized by the makers. After the show, Mohanlal had praised Udhayinidhi Stalin for his realistic performance. Incidentally, the first look poster of Nimir was also unveiled by the superstar. Here it is worth a mention that Mohanlal is a big fan of the original film, Maheshinte Prathikaram as he himself has said this through his Facebook page.

Maheshinte Prathikaram is unarguably one of the finest Malayalam movies to have released in the last decade or so. Directed by Dileesh Pothan and scripted by Syam Pushkaran, the movie had Fahadh Faasil in the titular role. Apart from becoming a big commercial success, it went on to win numerous accolades including a couple of National Awards as well.

For Nimir, Priyadarshan has slightly tweaked the original script by giving more prominence to humour so as to suit the sensibilities of the Tamil audience. Actor Samuthirakani is penning the dialogues and he is also playing the villain role in the movie. MS Bhaskar, director Mahendran and Karunakaran are also part of the supporting cast.

Priyadarshan has retained most of his technicians from ‘Oppam’ for this upcoming movie also. NK Ekambaram is the cinematographer and MS Ayyappan Nair is editing the movie. Darbuka Siva and Ajaneesh Loknath is handling the music department. Santhosh T Kuruvilla of Moonshot Entertainment is producing this movie, which is being planned to hit screens on January 26.
