“L2E Empuraan”, the explosive sequel to “Lucifer”, continues to rewrite history for Malayalam cinema with a staggering ₹325 crore total business worldwide. The film has grossed ₹260+ crores from theatres alone, while the non-theatrical revenue — including OTT and satellite rights (Malayalam version only) — has added another ₹65 crores, making it the biggest total business ever for a Malayalam film.

Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and headlined by Mohanlal, “Empuraan” has proved to be a massive commercial success. The film has raked in an impressive ₹86 crores from Kerala, ₹142 crores from overseas markets, and ₹34 crores from the rest of India, underlining its pan-Indian and global appeal. The OTT rights were acquired by JioCinema for a record sum, while the satellite rights of the Malayalam version was sold to Asianet for a record sum.
