Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is close behind Pulimurugan at UK box office

Superstar Mohanlal’s recent outing Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol was released recently in overseas centres like UK and UAE. The movie has taken a great opening at the UK box office, becoming the second best weekend grosser for a Malayalam movie after Pulimurugan. PJ Entertainments who distributed the movie in UK region have informed the news through a post in their official Facebook page.

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, directed by Vellimoonga fame features Mohanlal and Meena in the lead roles. The movie was released on January 20 amid great hype. M Sindhuraj has scripted the movie based on James VJ’s famous short story Pranayopanishath. The story revolves around a middle aged couple who rediscover their lost love from the boredom of their routine life.

Upon release, critics and common audience praised the movie unanimously for the performances of the lead cast and the relevant message it conveys. Families in particular thronged the theatres in large numbers. The movie has already crossed the 30 crore mark taking only 21 days to reach the milestone.

Mohanlal portrayed the character of Ulahannan, a panchayath secretary. Meena is seen as his wife Aniyamma, a homemaker. Aima Rose Sebastian and Sanoop Santhosh have played their kids in the movie.

Anoop Menon, Rahul Madhav, Kalabhavan Shajon, Alencier Ley Lopez, Neha Saxena, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Sharafudheen, Sudheer Karamana, Joy Mathew, Asha Sarath and many others have played the supporting roles. The movie is bank rolled by Sophia Paul under the banner Weekend Blockbusters.
