My Dear Kuttichathan director Jijo Punnoose’s next is an international project with Fahadh Faasil

Director Jijo Punnoose and Navodaya Films are two hugely popular names among the Malayali cine lovers of the 80s. The former has directed two landmark films in Malayalam cinema – Padayottam (1982) and My Dear Kuttichathan (1984). Both the movies funded by his own Navodaya Films were far ahead of their times with superior technical quality.

Jijo is the eldest son of popular producer Navodaya Appachan of Navodaya Films. His Padayottam, which had a plethora of stars like Prem Nazir, Madhu, Thikkurissy, Mammootty, Mohanlal and Shankar, was the first Indian film to be indigenously shot in the 70 mm film format. His next, My Dear Kuttichathan is the first ever 3D film to be made in India.

After a gap of three long decades, Jijo is now set to make a comeback and he is planning to do it in grand style. The director has been working on an ambitious project for sometime now. As per latest reports, his comeback movie will be based on Chundan, the origin of Kerala’s famous Snake Boat.

Young star Fahadh Faasil and a few others are associated with this project. It is said to be an international scale project with high-end technical quality. The makers are currently busy with the pre-production works and an official announcement is expected to be made very soon. Stay tuned to this space for more updates.
