The nation has not benefited from demonetisation: Adoor Gopalakrishnan

The central government’s demonetisation move to scrap the higher denomination notes and issue new currency have been met with mixed response from the citizens. People from all walks of the society and have voiced their voices for and against demonetisation.

Legendary filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan recently in a function during a book launch said that the demonetisation move by the government has not benefited the country. The director had earlier supported the decision hoping that it will bring back the stashed black money. But, now he feels that the government did not have a proper planning or strategy before implementing such a big decision.

Earlier, Jnanpith award winning writer MT Vasudevan Nair had to face a lot of criticism from BJP activists in Kerala for his comments over the impact of demonetisation.
