Nayanthara likely to star alongside Mammootty in the YSR biopic Yathra!

Recently we had reported about Mammootty being approached for the biopic on late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Telugu filmmaker Mahi Raghav and his team were recently in Kochi to discuss about the project and if reports are to be believed, the megastar has given his nod for this big project.

Mahi Raghav, who has made movies like Paathshala and Anando Brahma, has been working on the script for the biopic for sometime now. The movie said to be titled as Yathra will have Mammootty playing the late Chief Minister’s role. It will be really interesting to see how he essays the role of YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who was popularly known as YSR.

YSR died in an air crash in 2009 after the helicopter carrying him crashed in a dense forest. He was so popular in Andhra Pradesh that hundreds of his followers committed suicide upon hearing his death. This upcoming biopic will showcase some of the important aspects of his life and his political journey.

South Indian cinema’s lady superstar Nayanthara has also been approached to play a pivotal role in the movie. She is yet to sign the dotted lines but there is a strong buzz about the actress showing interest in being part of such a big project. If it happens it will be her fifth outing with Mammootty after sharing screen space in movies like Thaskara Veeran, Rappakal, Bhaskar The Rascal and Puthiya Niyamam.

Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devi Reddy will be jointly producing this movie. It is being planned as a multingual in all major Indian languages. The team is expected to make an official announcement very soon, with details about the entire cast and when the project would start rolling.
