New releases in trouble; Multiplexes not to screen Malayalam movies
All major multiplexes in Kerala have decided not to screen Malayalam movies due to the existing issue over the profit shares. National multiplexes chains including PVR and Cinepolis will be withdrawing the existing films today.
New releases like Tovino’s Godha, Jayaram’s Achayans and Asif Ali’s Adventures Of Omanakuttan will not be released in multiplexes. Existing movies like Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, The Great Father, Take Off and Ramante Edanthottam will also be removed today.
PVR Lulu Mall Kochi, Cinepolis Centre Square Mall, PVR Oberon Mall Kochi, Thrissur Shobha INOX are the multiplexes where the above mentioned movies will not be screened. This has come as a great setback to all the new releases. The profit share issue between the distributors and multiplexes is a long standing one. Let’s hope they find an amicable soultion soon.
