After Nivin Pauly, Tovino Thomas also comes out demanding justice for Mishel Shaji Varghese

Mishel Shaji Varghese, an 18 year old girl was found drowned near the Ernakulam wharf on March 6. The girl hailing from Ilanji near Piravom, was staying at Kacheripady to pursue the chartered accountancy course.

Police have ruled out any possibility of an assault as they could not find any marks found on her body. The postmortem report also confirmed drowning to be the cause of death. Police have hence confirmed it as a case of suicide. However, Mishel’s relatives have insisted a re-investigation as they claim that she had no such reason to commit suicide. According to them, Mishel was an ambitious and bold girl who was focussed only on her career.

Mishel had left the hostel on March 5 Sunday, evening after informing the hostel authorities that she was going to Kaloor Church. Surveillance camera footage near the Kaloor church shows Mishel leaving the shrine. Her relatives are suspicious about two men on a motorcycle seen near the shrine that day.

Social media users have shown their outrage demanding the police officials to investigate Mishel’s case. Actor Nivin Pauly recently lent his support to Mishel’s family and supported their appeal for an investigation.

Following Nivin’s words, actor Tovino Thomas has also taken to social media to express his support for the investigation. His Facebook post reads,

If this is true, it should be looked into !
For those who feel relieved that all this is happening to someone else, let me remind you, this can happen to you and me also.
