Lijo Jose Pellissery came up with Double Barrel this Onam season with a great star cast of Prithviraj, Arya, Sunny Wayne, Indrajith, Asif Ali etc to boast of. But the film has failed miserably at the theaters as it has got poor response from the spectators and according to many critics it is one of the worst films ever made in Mollywood. But it was not that bad for some people who loves experimental type of movies. The team behind the film had already said even before the release of the movie that it will be a film which is never been tried on Mollywood and it has to be watched like reading a comic book.

The film was a spoof type film or we can call it a gangster comedy. But people here does accepted it at all even though Lijo won some appreciation as well for his brave and unique attempt to make such a film in an industry like Malayalam using that much amount of money. When asked about this, he said that it is not about giving the audience what they expect from you but try to give entirely a different experience to them which they cannot predict. He wants to follow that path as a filmmaker. That is why he made a film like Double Barrel after he had made success with his previous film Amen.

When asked about the acceptance of people of his film or so called experiment of him, Lijo says that he has no plans to change his way of filmmaking and if it only satisfies 20 out of 100 people who watches it then he needs only that 20 people. He does not care about what the other 80 people say about the film. They may find it good after watching it again sometime later.

Lijo says that he does not want to spoon feed the audience with traditional way of filmmaking or narration of stories and there he does not find any fun and excitement as a filmmaker. So he wants to continue like how he is in his future films as well.
