Odiyan’s visual effects handled by the National award winnning NY VFXWAALA team!

Odiyan is unagruably one of the most hyped Malayalam movies in recent years. Expectations about the movie has been huge ever since it was announced. Ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon is making his directorial debut with this movie, touted to be a mass entertainer with elements of fantasy and magical realism.

Mohanlal, Manju Warrier and Prakash Raj play major roles in Odiyan. National award winner Hari Krishnan has scripted this movie based on the life of odiyans. The movie is primarily about odividya, a kind of black magic and people who practice it, called odiyans. Odiyan’s shoot was wrapped up in April. The team shot for 123 days in multiple schedules lasting for around five months. The movie is currently in its post-production phase.

Since Odiyan has high prominence to VFX, the makers have signed one of the best in the business. NY VFXWAALA, headed by Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn, is taking care of the VFX works in Odiyan. They recently won the National Award for Best Visual Effects for their outstanding work in Shivaay, starring and directed by Ajay Devgn. They have been in the field for over two decades and and have worked in over 200 films in Bollywood alone. Some of their noted works include Force, Bajirao Mastaani, Dangal etc.

NY VFXWAALA is also among one of the many VFX teams that worked in SS Rajamouli’s visual spectacle Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. In South cinema, they have worked in movies like Theri and Mani Ratnam’s Kaatru Veliyidai. Odiyan is a very ambitious film and it will be one the most challenging works for the NY VFXWAALA team.

Odiyan’s technical crew includes cinematographer Shaji Kumar, editor John Kutty, music director M Jayachandran and action choreographer Peter Hein. Aashirvad Cinemas headed by Antony Perumbavoor is funding this big budget movie.
