Official: Here’s the release date of Rajinikanth’s Kaala

Finally, after a lot of speculations and postponing the official release date of superstar Rajinikanth’s Kaala has been announced. The movie will be hitting screens worldwide on April 27, which was previously announced as the release date of his own 2.0. But 2.0 got pushed further due to the extensive post-production works.

Kaala is a gangster flick based in the Mumbai underworld. The movie marks his reunion with director Pa Ranjith after Kabali. Kaala is about a guy from Tirunelveli, who runs away in his childhood to Mumbai to become a powerful don living in the slums. He heads the Tamil community in the slums of Dharavi.

Kaala has a strong supporting cast which includes several noted North Indian actors. Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi is playing the female lead, but she is not paired opposite Rajinikanth. Multiple national award winner Nana Patekar is essaying a pivotal role in the movie. Jackie Shroff, Pankaj Tripathi, Anjali Patil, Sayaji Shinde, Sakshi Agarwal, Samuthirakani, Sukanya, Ramesh Thilak and Sampath Raj are also part of the supporting cast.

Rajinikanth’s son-in-law and actor Dhanush is producing Kaala under his banner Wunderbar Films. Most of the technical crew of Kabali have been retained for Kaala, with only editor Sreekar Prasad as the new addition. Pa Ranjith’s regular composer Santhosh Narayanan is handling the music department.
