Official: Shankar and Ranveer Singh team up for Anniyan Hindi remake

Recently, there were speculations about Tamil filmmaker Shankar teaming up with Bollywood star Ranveer Singh for the remake of the blockbuster film ‘Anniyan’. What was initially shrugged off as baseless rumours have now turned out to be true. The official announcement was made last day through social medias. Jayantilal Gada is producing the film, which is scheduled to go on floors by mid 2022.

Director Shankar has tweeted,

In this moment, no one will be happier than me, bringing back the larger than life cinematic experience with Ranveer Singh in the official adaptation of cult blockbuster Anniyan.

Since ‘Anniyan’ was released 16 years back in 2005, director Shankar is planning to adapt the film in such a way that the story is set in today’s timeline. With a big star like Ranveer Singh on board, the film is expected to be made on a much bigger scale than the original. It must be remembered that ‘Anniyan’ was dubbed and released in Hindi as ‘Aparichit’. It is a very popular film among the North Indian audience as it is one of the most telecast films in Hindi television channels.
