Official: Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar on board for Thalapathy 62

Shoot for Vijay’s upcoming movie with AR Murugadoss, tentatively titled Thalapathy 62, is currently progressing in Chennai. The movie marks the comeback of Sun Pictures to production after a long gap. Keerthy Suresh plays the female lead in the movie which has its music composed by AR Rahman.

Sun Pictures, through their Twitter handle, have made a breaking announcement today. Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar has been signed to play a crucial role. This announcement is a pleasant gift for the actress who is celebrating her birthday today.

Varalaxmi is well known for her bold roles in movies like Tharai Thappattai, Vikram Vedha, Nibunan, Sathya etc. Unlike other heroines, Varalaxmi has done many grey shaded and negative roles that offer her scope for performance. It remains to be seen if she plays a similar role in Thalapathy 62 as well.

AR Murugadoss has scripted the movie for which dialogues are penned by Jeyamohan, the co-writer of 2.0. Vijay is said to be playing a millionaire’s role in the movie. It is probably the first time that Vijay is playing such a character as he is mostly offered roles that are easily relatable to the commoners.

‘Vikram Vedha’ Prem, Radha Ravi, politician Pala Karuppiah and Yogi Babu have already been confirmed as part of the cast. The technical crew includes cinematographer Girish Gangadharan and editor Sreekar Prasad. Title and first look will be revealed officially very soon.
