Padayottam to kick-start the Onam box office race!

Festival seasons are always a great time to release movies. Filmmakers across the country plan pin high hopes on and plan their releases accordingly to cash in on the holiday season. If its Eid for Bollywood and Diwali for Kollywood, then its Onam for Mollywood. The Onam race is about to kick-start this Friday (August 17) with the release of Padayottam.

Starring Biju Menon in the lead, Padayottam is publicized as a serious comedy. Debutant Rafeek Ibrahim is directing this movie. The promos have all been promising and the movie looks like a laugh riot. Recently, the movie was censored with a clean U certificate. It has a run time of 2 hrs and 14 minutes. Zee Keralam have reportedly bagged the movie’s satellite rights for Rs 2.70 crores

Padayotttam has Biju Menon playing the role of Chenkal Raju, a pucca-gangster based in Trivandrum. The actor is seen sporting a rugged mass look in the movie. The movie has a host of supporting actors like Dileesh Pothan, Saiju Kurup, Anu Sithara, Lijo Jose Pellissery, Basil Joseph, Sudhi Koppa and Hareesh Kanaran.

Padayottam is scripted jointly by newcomers Arun AR and Ajai Rahul. According to the makers, the movie is a serious comedy on the lines of Delhi Belly and Jigarthanda. Satheesh Kurup is the cinematographer and Prashanth Pillai is handling the music department. Sophia Paul is producing the movie under the banner of Weekend Blockbusters.
