PC Sreeram heaps praise on Mammootty for his performance in Peranbu

Malayalam superstar Mammootty’s highly anticipated Tamil film Peranbu is finally getting ready for its theatrical release. The movie directed by Ram has been doing the rounds at international film festival circuits for sometime now. Last day, the makers had released the first look promo which gives glimpses of the extraordinary response for the movie at the film festivals.

Peranbu is an intense emotional family drama featuring Mammootty as a doting father. The veteran star, as Amudhavan, is said to have given one of his finest performances till date. PC Sreeram, one of Indian cinema’s leading cinematographers, recently got to watch Peranbu and was spellbound by Ram’s work. Calling it an unbelievable film, PC also showered praise on Mammootty for lending a new dimension to the movie. His tweet reads,

Earlier this year, Peranbu was screened at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR). The movie secured 20th position amongst the 187 films considered for the audience award category at the festival. It was also nominated for the prestigious NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) award. Peranbu had its Asian premiere at the 21st edition of the Shanghai International Film Festival. The movie was met with excellent response from viewers at both the festivals.

Peranbu also stars Anjali, Sarath Kumar, Baby Sadhana, transgender artist Anjali Ameer, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Kaniha and Samuthirakani. Yuvan Shankar Raja scores music for the movie. PL Thennappan is producing it under the banner of Sri Rajalakshmi Films. The teaser and audio of Peranbu will be officially launched on July 15 in Chennai. It is expected to hit screens in the first week of August.
