Performance of Eid movies in Kerala box office: An overview

Mollywood has graced with Eid releases and 4 Malayalam movies and 1 Hindi movie had released in Kerala this Eid season. Kasaba, Anuraga Karikkin Vellam, Karinkunnam Sixes and Shajahanum Pareekkuttiyum are the Malayalam movies. Sultan is the Hindi movie that released here. Now we can have an overview of the Eid releases as all of them had got off to a start in Box office.

Kasaba

Kasaba is the biggest Malayalam release of this season. It is scripted and directed by debutant Nithin Renji Panicker and starred by Mega Star Mammootty. The film is a mass masala entertainer which had got mixed reviews from common audience and critics. General opinion is that Kasaba is not everyone’s cup of tea. It is for the diehard fans of Mammootty and not aimed at family audience as well. Still the film had got off to a flier in box office with the support of Mammootty fans and entered in the 2 crore club on its opening day itself.

Anuraga Karikkin Vellam

Anuraga Karikkin Vellam is directed by debutant Khalid Rahman and scripted by Naveen Bhaskar. Asif Ali and Biju Menon played the lead roles in it. The film is produced by August Cinemas and got great reviews from all over. It is a family feel good entertainer aimed at the youth and family audience alike. The film is by far the best movie which released in this Eid season as per reviews from critics and common mass.

Karinkunnam Sixes (Karinkunnam 6s)

This one was the surprise package in Eid releases which is now living up to the expectation level. The flick has been directed by Deepu Karunakaran and scripted by Arunlal Ramachandran. Decent reviews are flowing in for this small film starring Manju Warrier and Anoop Menon. Back Water Studios produced this movie, which now considered as one of the finest sports movies released in Mollywood. The film is showing a performance at box office which is a kind of unexpected one.

Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum

This movie has been directed by Boban Samuel and scripted by Y V Rajesh. Jayasurya and Kunchacko Boban had played the lead roles in this fun film. But the reviews are showing that the film is a below average one and unlikely to make any impact at box office.

This Bollywood movie has been scripted and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and it has Salman Khan in the lead role.
