Petta and Viswasam all set to hit screens tomorrow; TN box office to witness massive box office clash

Pongal season for Tamilians is like an Onam or Vishu foor Malayalis. There is a festive mood all over the state and what better time for the film industry to flourish. Traditionally, the slot is normally reserved for a big star film to cash in on the holiday season. But this year, not one but two big star films are releasing, and that too on the same day.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Petta’ and Thala Ajith’s ‘Viswasam’ are all set to storm screens tomorrow (January 10). While it was initially believed that the makers would try to avert a clash, they went forward eyeing the extended weekend. So the stage is all set for what is perhaps the biggest box office in clash in Kollywood in a long time.

Both ‘Petta’ and ‘Viswasam’ have tremendous pre-release hype. ‘Petta’ directed by Karthik Subbaraj promises to bring back the Rajinikanth of all times. Along with him, the movie boasts of a huge stsr cast comprising of Vijay Sethupathi, Trisha, Simran, Sasikumar, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bobby Simha and Malavika Mohanan.

‘Viswasam’ is a regular commercial entertainer directed by Siva. Ajith appears in a dual role look in the movie that has Nayanthara as the female lead. The promos so far have been highly promising and considering Ajith’s box office pull, ‘Viswasam’ will give tight competition to ‘Petta’. Trade experts and industry insiders are eagerly waiting to see which movie gains the upper hand on the opening day.
